Speak Into The Void
It’s always been fascinating to me, those of us (including you!) who choose to reach into nothing to fashion something evocative, unique, inspiring, and useful.
It's a collaboration
What makes art different from illustration is not intention or skill, but usefulness. Illustration is art with purpose beyond evoking emotional response.
Synthesis
It's challenging to imagine something and attempt to impart that vision to someone else to make it a reality. I pride myself in my ability to work with clients and synthesize difficult art direction into meaningful, beautiful illustrations.
I Once Created a Thing...
In 2020 I found myself with tons of time on my hands and a world shrinking around my studio like a constrictor. I found myself longing for contact and community so I created a little channel on Twitch and streamed the design and creation of a custom set of poker cards that I called Dark Patina.
I later went on to publish a Kickstarter and successfully print and distribute thousands of decks to generous supporters around the world. You can snag a deck of your own here.
I look back on those times with incredible fondness.
And I’m currently working on a new deck.
